“I haven’t read a review of anything aimed at me or my peers in almost 15 years. But I do listen to the people,” Waititi wrote. “So this Halloween, let’s spare a thought for those sad lost souls who couldn’t achieve their dreams of becoming artists, and thus became critics. The same people who also hated Jojo Rabbit. Irrelevant. Out of touch. Obsolete. In the bin.”

As of Saturday afternoon, ‘Klara and the Sun’ holds a 26% Tomatometer score from 89 reviews, with a 75% Popcornmeter from audiences. That makes it the lowest-rated film Waititi has directed on the site, below ‘Next Goal Wins’ at 46%. The Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus says the film “aims to be endearing and inspiring but winds up cloying and twee.” Variety called it “twee, pulseless fantasy.”

The film co-stars Amy Adams and Mia Tharia, and Waititi co-wrote it with Dahvi Waller. Columbia Pictures released it in theaters on October 23.

Based on Stephen King’s novel “It,” the series builds on the two-part “It” film reboot from 2017 and 2019 and serves as a prequel to those films. It premiered on HBO Max on October 26, 2025, and HBO renewed it for a second season in August.

Season 1 is set in 1962 in the fictional town of Derry, Maine. Season 2 will jump back to 1935, during the Great Depression. Per the official logline, it “centers on the bloody massacre of the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammo and end up facing unimaginable horror.” The Bradley Gang massacre is one of the interludes in King’s original novel.

Co-creator Andy Muschietti told Variety the new season will have a different look from the first. “On the surface, Derry is a graveyard almost,” he said. “People are depleted, poor, tired, jobless, homeless.”

The Direct previewed a short in which a red Pikmin sneaks up on a seemingly sleeping toad to grab an old baseball, only to find the toad awake and hungry. According to Famitsu, the first ‘Hello! Pikmin’ short arrives November 1, a second follows later in November, and new shorts come monthly from December through the free Nintendo Today app and other channels.

Nintendo Pictures has made Pikmin animation before, including the short ‘Close to You’ last October, and Miyamoto’s team released three Pikmin shorts back in 2014. The Direct also included updates for Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 and for Pikmin Bloom on mobile.

The Verge reports that an official name reveal could come as soon as November, possibly timed to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s 15th anniversary on November 11. IGN adds that Xbox’s 25th anniversary is another possible moment. The report cautions that fans shouldn’t expect much beyond a title announcement for now.

IGN, relaying the report, says the game is set in Hammerfell and will be the first in the series built around the history of the Elder Scrolls themselves, letting players uncover the secrets of the ancient artifacts firsthand. Bethesda has also reportedly been showing gameplay of the RPG in recent months.

The rumor isn’t new. Fans pointed to “Sentinel” back in August after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said she had watched a live playthrough, praised “the scale of the game,” and teased the subtitle with eight asterisks, the same number of letters as “Sentinel.”

The Elder Scrolls VI was first announced at E3 2018 and still has no release date.

Speaking on the Cheeky Pint podcast, Altman pushed back on the idea that open-source models running at home will reduce the need for AI data centers. “From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everybody have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used 5% of the time,” he said. “You want maximum utilization in the cloud if you’re trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment.”

The comments land in the middle of an ongoing memory shortage. Samsung and SK Hynix have signed long-term deals with cloud operators and projects like OpenAI’s Stargate, and the Verge reports those deals have reserved much of the world’s RAM output for the next few years. The show belongs to Pavi and Nisha, twin sisters who are both the Avatar. Nobody in history has ever seen that, and nobody is thrilled about it. Saheli Khan and Aishu Devan have great sibling chemistry. Pavi is gentle and would happily skip training forever, while Nisha would like to punch the problem, thanks. Their bickering is a blast, and their bond hits hard when it counts. Episode 6, where Nisha learns to help Pavi through her phantom limb pain, is the warmest moment of the season. They also each have a pet cat-monkey, which I didn’t know I needed and now can’t live without.

My favorite character, by a mile, is Karthik. He’s a master airbender who goes by “the Human Hurricane” and “Warrior of the Wind,” which is two cool nicknames more than most of us get. He’s Nisha’s guardian, he takes over Ellora’s Bending Brigade, and it turns out he’s secretly in the Order of the White Lotus. In a world that blames the Avatar for everything, Karthik is the one adult who still believes in them. He’s also the one adult who has to watch two kids hear “stay hidden during the giant sandstorm” and go straight into the giant sandstorm. Akshay Khanna gives him just the right mix of calm, wise and visibly tired. Every scene with him is better for it.

The world-building is a treat too. Ellora is full of politics, food shortages, a rampaging camodillo (half camel, half armadillo, all chaos) and Chancellor Kayoko, who makes “find the Avatar” her whole personality. Episodes 7 through 9 raise the stakes and get surprisingly deep about who gets to decide what’s dangerous.

Then the finale arrives and takes your heart with it. In the Memory Void, the twins finally learn the truth about their past and about the Anomaly that has been feeding on Ellora’s fear. The answer pulls them apart. Pavi unlocks her root chakra and saves the city, but the show makes clear she couldn’t have done it without Nisha. Ending with the twins split up is a gutsy cliffhanger, and I’m already counting down to Season 2.
